French General
Twenty years ago, French General started in a barn along the Hudson River in upstate New York. Open once a month, it featured Kaari’s favorite items like vintage French linens and textiles. The shop eventually moved to New York City and then Los Angeles, evolving into a retail space, workshop for stitching and dyeing classes, and design studio.
In 2008, French General began designing fabric and quilt patterns for Moda, starting with the Rouenneries collection. Since then, they have created over 30 fabric collections and 60 quilt patterns, inspired by historical fabrics but with a modern twist, and marked by a signature shade of red.
